“What does Easter look like with your young adult kids? I had a discussion the other day with a friend of mine. We both have 3 kids…A young married, a college kid and a high school kid! Boy that’s fun to have a friend that has the exact same aged kids as mine! Anyways…What’s a Mom to do? We discussed the all important topic of “Are they too old for an Easter basket”? Or if you don’t do an Easter basket, Do you give them a little something like a gas card?, What about dying Easter eggs? Too old for that fun tradition? Or an Easter Egg hunt?
What we decided is that like so often in parenting, it’s going to look different for every family!
What I ended up doing was creating an Easter basket for my high school daughter. Hey, she’s the only kid at home so she should have special benefits, don’t you think? ( In her Easter basket, I put a brand new soccer ball along with some candy and a Starbucks gift card) I put together an Easter care package for my college son in Virginia (a simple box filled with Easter grass, candy, a Starbucks and a Door Dash gift card and an Easter greeting card made from a family pic for his apartment!) and well my married daughter and son-in-law, they get a “Happy Easter” phone call from their dear sweet Mom! Lol! ๐
What’s really special for us on Easter Sunday, is celebrating the resurrection of Jesus at our church! Here’s a pic of my husband leading our Kids church service last Easter! We had kids acting out the story of Easter so it brings it more to life for them.
As far as dying eggs and an egg hunt? Well I can’t resist an opportunity to make family memories and craft something together like dying Easter eggs! I mean really, when is the last time you did a “craft” or made something with your teenager? So when I have an opportunity like this long standing tradition, I jump on it! And you know what? My daughter loves it too! ๐
I think we’ll have to save the egg hunt for the neighbor kids! Lol!
Whatever your Easter looks like this year with your young adult kids, I hope you enjoy special family moments along with some delicious food with the ones you love. After all, He is Risen!
